'He Snapped': Texas Man Says He Killed Roommate

By Jessie Stone • Jul 10, 2025

When Rana Soluri didn't return to work after medical leave, her friends were worried. But what began as concern over a missed shift quickly spiraled into a criminal investigation that led police to a shocking confession, surveillance footage, and a quiet home outside Fort Worth.

A Flight Attendant Vanishes

Rana Nofal Soluri, a 47-year-old flight attendant for American Airlines, had taken time off in March 2025 to recover from minor surgery. She was expected back by March 31 — but never showed up. Her last known text conversation ended abruptly on March 19, and friends said that wasn't like her.

On June 11, after nearly three months of silence, one of her coworkers reported her missing. By then, authorities already had clues that something was wrong.

Suspicion Builds Around a House in Fort Worth

Soluri had been living with Dennis William Day, a 66-year-old man in Fort Worth, for about a year. He told police he hadn't seen her in months. Yet her car, a brand-new Mazda purchased just a week before her disappearance, had been sitting outside his house since March. Officers had the vehicle towed on May 8. They returned for a welfare check on June 10.

According to arrest documents, Day had moved Soluri's belongings into storage but expressed no concern about her disappearance.

The last confirmed sighting of her was on March 21. Her phone stopped responding soon after, and her absence remained a mystery.

That is, until June 23.

A Confession, a Camera, and a Chilling Claim

After allowing police to search his home, Day allegedly gave investigators a disturbing piece of evidence: security footage from his own system, showing him dragging what appeared to be a lifeless body across his property. Confronted with the video, Day reportedly confessed.

He claimed Soluri had been filming him and threatened to call the police, although about what is unclear. At that moment, Day told investigators, he "snapped," according to the Hill.

He allegedly strangled her in the kitchen, dragged her body outside, and then realized the security system had captured everything. He said he disconnected the cameras, loaded her body into a trash bin, and drove north toward Bowie, Texas — about an hour away — where he dumped the body over a bridge.

He also claimed to have thrown her cell phone into a river. While Soluri's body hasn't been recovered, investigators confirmed her phone pinged in the area Day described.

Legal Status and Lingering Questions

Dennis William Day has been arrested and charged with murder. As of this writing, he remains in the Tarrant County Jail with bond set at $200,000.

While he has reportedly confessed to the killing, no conviction has yet been made, and he has not entered a formal plea.

The investigation remains open.

An Unsettling End for a Woman Who Just Wanted to Heal

Rana Soluri's friends and colleagues remember her as a warm, dedicated professional. She took time off to heal, expecting to return to the skies. Instead, her final days ended in tragedy — one that police say unfolded at the hands of someone she lived with and likely trusted.

As the case moves through the courts, it raises painful reminders about how quickly domestic tensions can escalate — and how sometimes, the people closest to us hide the darkest secrets.
