Lindsay Lohan's Dad Arrested for Assault After Allegedly Flipping Estranged Wife Out of a Chair

Michael Lohan, the father of actress Lindsay Lohan, has been arrested in Texas on a domestic violence charge. Authorities in Harris County took the 64-year-old into custody on Feb. 22, after his estranged wife, Kate Major, accused him of assaulting her days earlier.
Michael Lohan Faces New Domestic Violence Charges
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Major was at a medical appointment on Feb. 21 when she noticed Michael in the parking lot. Fearing that he was following her, she called 911. She later told deputies that Michael had flipped her out of a chair at their home earlier in the week. A female officer who responded to the call noted bruising on Major's body.
Michael was arrested at his residence without incident and charged with Continuous Family Violence. His bond was set at $30,000. In response to the allegations, Michael denied the accusations, claiming that Major was lying and that he had video evidence to prove his innocence.
This is not the first time Michael and Major's volatile relationship has made headlines. The couple, who married in 2014, has had a history of legal disputes and allegations of domestic violence. In 2020, Michael was arrested in New York for allegedly choking Major. He later struck a plea deal, resulting in a two-year limited protective order and a fine. Major herself has also faced legal trouble, including a June 2024 arrest for violating a protective order after an altercation with Michael.
Following the latest incident, Major was granted an emergency protective order, preventing Michael from coming within 200 feet of her workplace or communicating with her in a threatening manner.
A Troubled Family History
Michael Lohan has long been a controversial figure, with a history of legal issues and a turbulent personal life. Before his marriage to Major, he was married to Dina Lohan, with whom he shares four children, including Lindsay, 38. Their highly publicized divorce in 2007 was filled with accusations of abuse and financial troubles.
Despite his repeated claims of wanting to rebuild his relationship with his children, Michael's frequent run-ins with the law and ongoing drama with Major have continued to cast a shadow over the Lohan family name.
Lindsay Lohan's Return to the Spotlight
While her father's legal troubles continue, Lindsay Lohan has been focusing on her career comeback. After years of tabloid headlines overshadowing her acting, she made a surprising return to Hollywood in 2022. Partnering with Netflix®, she starred in a series of romantic comedies, including "Falling for Christmas," "Irish Wish," and "Our Little Secret." The success of these films has cemented her status as a leading lady once again.
Now, fans are eagerly awaiting her next big project: "Freakier Friday," the long-anticipated sequel to the Disney® 2003 hit "Freaky Friday." With Jamie Lee Curtis returning alongside her, the film is expected to deliver a nostalgia-fueled performance when it hits theaters in 2025.
Lindsay's ability to reinvent herself in Hollywood stands in stark contrast to her father's ongoing legal troubles. While Michael Lohan remains entangled in controversy, Lindsay seems to be reclaiming her career and moving forward.
