The Poison Plot

During their troubled marriage, Sergio Pino's affair with another woman and growing marital tensions coincided with Tatiana suffering from unexplained health issues. She developed symptoms resembling epilepsy, leaving doctors perplexed until a specialist at Johns Hopkins Hospital uncovered the truth — fentanyl was being introduced into her prescription medications without her knowledge. Tatiana later stated in court that she believed her husband was behind the poisoning and feared for her life.

This discovery prompted Tatiana to file for divorce in April 2022. The legal battle quickly became contentious, with Tatiana demanding half of the family's $360 million fortune, while Sergio fought to limit her share to less than 10%.

Multiple Murder-for-Hire Attempts

Authorities say Sergio Pino hired hitmen on several occasions to carry out his sinister plans. Each attempt failed, but the schemes included brutal methods such as gun violence and poison. Police are still piecing together the timeline, but evidence suggests these plots were meticulously planned and spanned several months.

In one terrifying incident on Aug. 30, 2023, Sergio allegedly arranged for a truck to ram into Tatiana's car as she pulled into their driveway. Though the collision caused damage, Tatiana escaped unscathed. The attack raised suspicions, but did not immediately lead to a criminal investigation.

Ten months later, on June 23, 2024, Tatiana was returning home from errands when a gunman approached her car in the driveway. Acting quickly, she began honking the horn to alert her daughter, Alessandra, who was inside the house. The gunman allegedly drew a weapon but fled the scene before any harm was done. Police later determined this was another failed murder-for-hire attempt. The incident left Tatiana and her family traumatized, intensifying her fears for their safety and well-being.

Sergio Pino's Tragic End

In July, just weeks after Tatiana's last attack, Sergio Pino was found dead by suicide in his Coral Gables home. According to the FBI, Sergio, a prominent Miami real estate developer, shot himself in the bedroom of his waterfront mansion. Authorities confirmed he was under investigation for the alleged murder-for-hire plots at the time of his death. "It would appear he saw it was coming down. He likely thought he was going to get charged with this," Pinecrest Police Department Chief Jason Cohen told Fox News Digital.

A Campaign of Stalking and Violence

Following his death, federal prosecutors revealed the extent of Sergio's campaign against his wife. On July 31, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida announced charges against nine individuals involved in stalking, tormenting, and attempting to kill Tatiana. The group included Fausto Villar, Avery Bivins, Clementa Johnson, Vernon Green, Diori Barnard, Jerren Howard, Michael Dulfo, Edner Etienne, and Bayron Bennett. Their actions ranged from intimidation to violent attempts on Tatiana's life, showcasing Sergio's ruthless determination.

Vernon Green, the gunman in the June 23 incident, was hired to ensure Tatiana's death before her divorce proceeding scheduled for June 24. The contract offered $150,000 for the murder, with an additional $150,000 to guarantee the crime couldn't be traced back to Pino and to prevent Tatiana from attending the hearing.
