Nicolas Cage's ex, Christina Fulton, has filed a lawsuit against both the "National Treasure" actor and their son, Weston Cage, over an alleged violent attack that she says left her with life-altering injuries. Christina, 57, claims Weston, 34, assaulted her during a mental health crisis in April 2024, and that Cage, 61, is partially responsible for enabling their son's dangerous behavior.
A Violent Confrontation
Christina alleges that on April 28, 2024, she went to help her son after friends expressed concern about his mental state. Instead, she says, she was brutally attacked in the parking lot, elevator, and lobby of his Los Angeles apartment building. According to the lawsuit, Weston, a trained mixed martial artist, inflicted severe injuries, including a brain concussion, eye damage, and dental trauma, which required extensive medical care.
Weston was arrested in July 2024 and charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He pleaded not guilty and was released on a $150,000 bond.
Why Nicolas Cage Is Being Sued
Christina's lawsuit doesn't just target Weston — it also accuses Nicolas Cage of negligence. She claims that Nicolas was well aware of his son's history of violent outbursts, substance abuse, and mental health struggles, yet failed to get him the help he needed. Instead, she says, Nicolas financially supported Weston, bailed him out of jail multiple times, and even drank alcohol with him despite knowing his addiction issues.
"Nicolas enabled Weston when he kept bailing him out of jail, drinking with him, and taking him out of therapy and rehab," Christina's attorney, Joseph Farzam, told USA Today. "In doing so, he put my client and others in grave danger, which resulted in Ms. Fulton's life long serious physical and mental injuries."
Christina further claims that Nicolas purchased Weston's apartment — located right next to his own — rather than ensuring he received proper psychiatric care.
Weston and Nicolas Cage Respond
Both Weston and Nicolas have dismissed the lawsuit, calling it a baseless attempt to gain money and media attention.
"Ms. Fulton's decision to file a lawsuit against her own son is not surprising given her past history of litigation against family members," Weston's attorney, Michael A. Goldstein, said in a statement to USA Today. "It appears to be nothing short of a money grab and call for attention.”
Nicolas's representative also rejected Christina's accusations, stating to USA Today, "The allegations by Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous. Mr. Cage does not control Weston's behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston's alleged assault of his mother."
A History of Legal Troubles
This is not the first time Weston has been involved in legal trouble. Over the years, he has faced multiple arrests, including charges of domestic violence and DUI. Christina argues that his violent tendencies were ignored and enabled by his father, ultimately leading to the April 2024 attack.
A Family With a Complicated Past
Christina and Nicolas were never married, but they share one son, Weston, born in 1990. Cage has been married five times, including a brief four-day marriage to Erika Koike in 2019.
Weston, for his part, has had a turbulent personal life. He was previously married to Danielle Cage, with whom he shares two children, and later wed Hila Aronian. On March 6, 2025, he announced his engagement to Jenifer Alexa Canter.
Weston's struggles with substance abuse and mental health have been well-documented, and his mother now argues that he should have been placed in supervised care long ago.
What's Next?
Christina is seeking a jury trial and financial damages for medical expenses, lost career opportunities, and emotional distress. She claims the attack forced her to drop out of filming a Netflix series and damaged her business ventures, including a multimillion-dollar opportunity with her Cyclish brand.
As the legal battle unfolds, the family remains divided — Christina seeking justice for what she calls a life-altering attack, while Weston and Nicolas Cage fight back against what they describe as an unfounded lawsuit.
