Oklahoma Man Killed Over Alleged Involvement in Ongoing Missing Person Case-1

Oklahoma Man Killed Amid Investigation of Ex-Girlfriend's Disappearance

Colby Dennis Sheppard, a 27-year-old man from Oklahoma, became the victim of a violent retaliation killing, driven by unproven accusations surrounding a missing woman. His death and the ongoing investigation have captured the attention of many, with four people now charged in connection to his murder. But while justice is being sought for Sheppard, many questions remain unanswered — especially about the missing woman at the center of this dark story.

The Disappearance of Kendra Battelo

Kendra Nicole Battelo, a 26-year-old woman from Enid, Oklahoma, was last seen in July 2022. Her sudden disappearance shocked her family, and rumors began swirling about her whereabouts, but no solid evidence has been found to explain what happened to her. There was even a possible sighting in Pawnee, Oklahoma, where a woman believed Battelo knocked on her door and asked for water, but nothing more came from that lead.

Kendra's family pleaded for her return, but as of now, she remains missing. Adding to the complexity, Kendra had substance abuse and mental health issues, which further muddled the investigation into her disappearance.

Sheppard Lured to His Death

Colby Sheppard's connection to Battelo became a focal point after her disappearance, with online speculation labeling him as her boyfriend. Police had questioned Sheppard on multiple occasions, but no formal charges were ever brought against him. Despite this, rumors began to spread that Sheppard might have been involved in her disappearance.

These rumors likely played a role in his tragic death. On Dec. 27, 2023, Sheppard was last seen alive at a Pizza Hut® in Enid. A few days later, on Jan. 4, 2024, he was reported missing by his family. For months, his whereabouts remained unknown until police made a gruesome discovery in late August.

On Aug. 27, authorities found Sheppard's remains in a cellar in Enid, Oklahoma. Police later revealed that four individuals — Victor Battelo (Kendra's uncle), Charles Jordan, Devin Harris, and Heaven Jordan — had lured Sheppard with the intent to harm him. According to court records, they believed Sheppard was involved in Battelo's disappearance and decided to take matters into their own hands, resulting in Sheppard's brutal murder.

Revenge Gone Wrong

Police have stated that Sheppard's murder was carried out as an act of retaliation for his rumored involvement in Kendra Battelo's disappearance. However, law enforcement officials clarified that no evidence links Sheppard to her case. This tragic misunderstanding, fueled by speculation and rumor, ultimately cost Sheppard his life.

According to affidavits, Victor Battelo admitted to assaulting Sheppard, and Charles Jordan lured him to the house where he was killed. Sheppard was badly beaten before his throat was cut and his body dumped in the cellar or a nearby house. Still, it took months for his body to be discovered.

The Search for Closure

While arrests have been made and charges filed against the four individuals for Colby Sheppard's murder, the investigation into Kendra Battelo's disappearance remains ongoing. Authorities continue to search for any leads that might explain what happened to her after she went missing in 2022. Despite the rumors that connected Sheppard to her case, no evidence has surfaced to support those claims, and Kendra Battelo's whereabouts remain unknown. Investigators hope that further efforts will bring closure to her family, just as they have made progress in resolving Sheppard's tragic case.
