Tennessee Man Arrested for Stabbing Teen Found in Bed With His Wife

A Tennessee love triangle took a deadly turn when 41-year-old Jonathan Belk allegedly stabbed 18-year-old Billy J. Floyd to death after finding him in bed with his wife. Police say Belk also attacked his wife, Jada Gholston, though she survived.
A Crime of Passion Turns Deadly
According to an arrest report, when officers arrived at the scene on March 8, 2025, they found Belk standing in his doorway covered in blood. As reported by ABC News Channel 9, Belk allegedly told investigators, "I am worried about my relationship with my wife due to the fact that I offed him."
After the stabbing, Belk reportedly stuffed Floyd's body into a trash can, where authorities later found it in the fetal position. He was taken into custody and now faces criminal homicide charges, among others.
Who Was Billy Floyd?
Billy Floyd, known as "Little Bill" to his loved ones, was an 18-year-old with a love for the outdoors. According to his obituary, as reported by PEOPLE, he enjoyed "hunting, fishing, four wheelers and working on everything." According to ABC News Channel 9, his godmother, Brandi Smartt, shared her grief, saying, "Little Bill was a great person. He was loved by a lot of people. He'd give me the shirt straight off his back."
But Floyd's life took a complicated turn when he became involved with Jada Gholston. According to his godmother, Floyd had been in a long-term relationship with Jada — one that allegedly started when he was just 15. She also claimed that a year and a half ago, Belk had warned Floyd to stay away from Jada.
The Investigation Continues
Sheriff Bill Phillips has confirmed that authorities are still piecing together the full story. While he didn't confirm details about the alleged years-long affair, according to ABC News Channel 9, he did state that, "We still have our people out doing interviews now on the case I do anticipate there will be more charges filed in this case." Investigators are also still searching for the knife used in the attack.
Belk remains in the Sequatchie County Jail. Meanwhile, Floyd's family is left mourning — and looking for answers.
