Town Gives Astounding Gift to Cancer Patient-1

In an inspiring demonstration of community spirit, a young boy's battle with cancer has brought neighbors together in an extraordinary act of kindness. Shane, just 7 years old, needed more than medical treatment; he needed a way to get there, and additional support along the way. What happened next is a heartwarming testament to human generosity.

A Community Effort

When Shane underwent surgery to remove two brain tumors, his mobility was severely compromised. Needing regular visits to the hospital for check-ups, Shane's situation caught the attention of his community. Aware of the family's plight, two neighbors took it upon themselves to modify a van, making it wheelchair accessible. This remarkable story, first reported by WKBW, highlights how a simple act of kindness can make a significant difference in someone's life.

The Power of Collaboration

Shane's grandfather, Guy Norton, shared with reporters the challenges Shane faced post-surgery. Despite the difficulties, Shane showed incredible resilience. Frank DiMaria, one of the neighbors involved, was already searching for an accessible van for another friend when he learned about Shane's needs. The synchronicity of events led to George, a local car dealership owner, stepping in to assist.

DiMaria told WKBW, "The car dealer [George] helped us out. It was unbelievable. He found out that we were going to buy it. He actually lowered his price; even after he gave me the set price, he lowered it."

George, touched by Shane's story and having personal losses to cancer, also equipped the van with an automatic start system to ease its use.

Beyond Transportation

The support for Shane didn't stop at the van. Hope Rises, a non-profit organization, utilized social media to enhance Shane's Pokémon card collection, adding joy to his challenging journey.
