King Charles Evicts Harry and Meghan

He begged his father with seven heartbreaking words, but the answer came in the form of locked doors and silence.
King Charles III has officially evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage — their last tie to royal life on British soil. What was once a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth II has now become a ghost house in Windsor. The move wasn't just a snub — it was a full-blown royal rupture.
'Don't You Want to See Your Grandchildren?'
For Prince Harry, Frogmore wasn't just four bedrooms and royal plumbing. It was the dream house he and Meghan renovated after their 2018 wedding — a gift from Queen Elizabeth II. They poured their hearts (and reportedly £2.4 million) into making it a family haven.
But according to Omid Scobie's book "Endgame," Harry received the news of the eviction just days after his memoir "Spare" sent shockwaves through the monarchy. And it crushed him. So much so, he allegedly called his father and pleaded, according to the Economic Times, "Don't you want to see your grandchildren?"
The king's answer? A vague, half-hearted promise that they'd "always have somewhere" to stay.
Tears, Fury, and Princess Anne
Royal insiders didn't sugarcoat Harry's response. He was "absolutely furious and in tears," according to royal author Tom Quinn, as reported by the Economic Times. The emotional blow felt like more than just a real estate shuffle. It was, to Harry, a deeply personal rejection from the father he once looked up to.
And behind the king's decision? Reportedly none other than Princess Anne. Scobie claims the Princess Royal was a leading voice in persuading Charles to get tough. He wrote that she was "at the forefront of the supporters of the firm approach."
From Family Home to Political Pawn
While Harry and Meghan were left scrambling, Frogmore has been quietly gathering dust. The cottage remains empty, despite Charles's efforts to pressure Prince Andrew into moving in. Andrew, however, has refused to leave his palatial 30-room Royal Lodge — a property that's far outside Windsor's police protection perimeter and costs a fortune to secure.
So now, the house that once protected the Sussexes and their children with de facto police coverage sits vacant. No renters. No royals. No purpose.
And yes — Harry and Meghan were still paying rent.
"It just feels a bit silly and, for want of a better word, petty," said royal commentator Afua Hagan, according to Newsweek. "Prince Andrew's not living there. Harry and Meghan now don't have a U.K. base when they come. What was the point?"
The Christmas That Never Came
If the eviction wasn't enough, King Charles delivered another message loud and clear: the Sussexes were no longer part of the royal family's holiday narrative. For the first time, Harry, Meghan, and their children were not invited to spend Christmas with the royals. Nor were they mentioned in the King's annual speech.
That speech? It centered on family unity. The irony was deafening.
Final Door Slammed Shut
Once seen as modernizers of the monarchy, Harry and Meghan now appear fully cut off. No home base in the U.K. No official holiday invitation. And no sign that reconciliation is on the horizon.
They've made their life in Montecito. They've built careers, started nonprofits, and raised their children far from palace gates. But when Frogmore Cottage was taken, it closed the last door they had left open.
And behind that door? A father who made his choice.
