Son Confessed to Killing Mom, Dumped Her in Trash Can
In a quiet Louisiana neighborhood, a grim discovery sent shockwaves through a community unaccustomed to violent crime. What began as a disturbing tip quickly escalated into a murder investigation with chilling details — an alleged confession, drug use, and a body concealed in the most unthinkable of places.
A Disturbing Call
On June 22, police in Opelousas, Louisiana, received a report that set off a chain of tragic revelations. Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Park Circle after Aaron Lloyd, 33, allegedly told someone he had killed his mother and hid her body.
When authorities arrived, they found the remains of 65-year-old Lisa Lloyd stuffed inside a trash can beneath the home's carport.
What followed was a swift but sobering investigation. Detectives with the Opelousas Police Department, assisted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, located Lloyd at a residence in Krotz Springs. According to police, he was taken into custody without incident.
A Shocking Confession
In a police interview, Lloyd allegedly confessed to a sequence of events that stunned investigators. He reportedly told officers he had injected his mother with methamphetamine before beating her to death.
Police did not speculate on a motive, and no prior reports of domestic violence were mentioned in public statements.
He now faces several serious charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated second-degree battery, obstruction of justice, failure to seek assistance, and distribution of a Schedule II drug.
A Neighborhood in Shock
The crime has rattled the local community. Lisa Lloyd was known to neighbors as a quiet presence, and the neighborhood itself had no history of homicide. "This is the first time this ever happened in Park Circle. This is the first time we ever had a homicide in Park Circle," local resident David Dorn told Lafayette outlet KLFY, according to Newsweek.
Adding to the alarm, residents had recently complained about a foul odor near the property, unaware of the grim reality concealed in the trash can.
What Comes Next
While Lloyd remains in custody at St. Landry Parish Jail, the investigation is still underway. Joe Anderson with the Opelousas Police Department told local news that more charges could be filed and additional suspects might be involved.
Police Chief Graig LeBlanc urged the public to keep the Lloyd family in their thoughts, noting the emotional toll the case has taken on everyone involved. "This is a deeply tragic and heartbreaking case that has impacted our entire community," he said in a public statement, according to Newsweek.
For now, one Louisiana town is left to grapple with the horror of a crime that feels more like fiction than fact — one where a son allegedly turned against his own mother with devastating consequences.
